Hey Katie...i did that too.

I was asked if i had any "other" surgeries outside of surgeries for IBD.....too which I responded...Nope!!!

Only to remember later that day that I had in fact had 3 major knee surgeries to fix my ACL.....kinda forgot about those!!!

Ya once you have had bowel surgery...the rest is gravy!

It's a great time to be gluten free, there are more things offered all the time. Are you casein free too? We are on a gfcf diet here at my house with a family of 7. It takes work, but it is doable.

Mother's Market carries a lot and Henry's Marketplace. Whole foods has the most to offer.

There's an amazing amount of gluten free stuff at whole foods. We had a client with a gluten allergy, so we ordered GF stuff for meals and snacks. In the process I've gotten hooked on some GF crackers called 'Mary's Gone Crackers' that are really good.

Hey Katie, Thanks for your blog. I found out about it from our mutual friend, Andrea Kudlacz. I am Andrea's best friend growing up in Columbus, Mississippi, where I still live. Andrea and I have misadventures wherever we go and plan on lots more. I too, have chronic health problems. Mine have consumed my life for the last three years, and my first relief came last month! this is great - i relish finding new and peculiar tricks to sustaining. cayenne pepper is my personal addiction... i put it on everything including sorbet (when i can eat solids).

thank you for your blog. it is uplifting with its tinge of humor. i try to keep my crohn's blog in the same spirit, but yours is a reminder that i can pay better tribute to optimism!

Author and philosopher Alain de Botton spoke recently about the insidious unspoken assumption that if we "deserve" our success we must somehow deserve our defeats as well. He argues that we must all work hard to recognize the haphazard nature of the success and misfortunes that befall us all.

I think this is operating in a truly nefarious way in the healthcare debate reform. Imagine how this kind of social empathy might change the debate!

Good luck with the Cimzia, I have a friend in her early forties with R.A., her mother also has it. She's going through the injection roller coaster right now. I feel for you and hope all improves. I'm a designer/illustrator also -- there really isn't anything like great packaging.
